CAPE TOWN - About 200 hundred protesters handed a memorandum of demands over to the US Consulate on Friday in light of United Nations International Day day of Solidarity with Palestine.
The protesters from various organisations gathered under the banner of the Anti-Apartheid Movement of South Africa.
They accuse the US administration of supporting Israel by continuing to ship weapons to the country.

Salie joined the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) and the Palestine Solidarity Campaign to hand over a memorandum of demands to the US Consulate General for South Africa.
"We're at the Consulate General of the US to show our solidarity to the Palestinian people, and to hold them accountable. What we did today was pass on a memorandum detailing our concerns and demands. The problem we are sitting with is their refusal to sign memorandums," Salie said.
Meanwhile, US Embassy deputy spokesperson Samidha Redkar said the United States is committed to promoting peace and security in the Middle East and is actively engaged in efforts to de-escalate tensions.
"We continue to provide significant humanitarian assistance to those affected by the conflict in the region, including Palestinians, and remain committed to supporting efforts that bring relief and stability to affected communities," said Redkar.
