Richtersveld residents march against massive Green Hydrogen project
Richtersveld residents and 'Protect the West Coast' marched in Alexander Bay to protest the Communal Property Association (CPA) for allegedly using communal land for personal gain.

Protect the West Coast marched with residents to the Communal Property Association offices in Alexander Bay to voice their grievances and hand over a memorandum.
They accuse them of exploiting communal land and resources for personal gain and ignoring the needs of the !Ama Community.

They specifically reference the signing of the Boegoebaai green hydrogen mega-project without the community’s consent.

The community also demanded fair elections for the CPA committee.
The Richtersveld community fought to reclaim this land for decades and a settlement was finally made in 2007.
