The Umgababa community in the south coast falls under the Umkomaas policing precinct.

During Ramaphosa’s visit to the area in November, some cited concerns about the lack of manpower and resources at the police station.

When asked about this after the murders, local councillor Arthur Mgobhozi had this to say: “The provincial policing structures are busy working on means to restructure and also to assist those police to be much better.”
