Truck carrying explosives alight on N1 near Kroonstad after multi-vehicle crash

JOHANNESBURG - A truck carrying explosives has caught fire on the N1 freeway towards the Free State after being involved in a multi-vehicle crash. 

Officials say the accident occurred near Kroonstad and the road has been closed to traffic due to the explosives in the truck.

Emergency services are on the scene.

However, it is understood that they are unable to approach the truck to extinguish the fire due to the likelihood of the truck exploding.
