The catchy ‘Baby Shark’ music video made history on this day (13 January) in 2022 when it became the first YouTube video to reach 10 billion views.
Originally uploaded by South Korean educational company Pinkfong in 2016, the earworm quickly became a global phenomenon.
Today (13 January 2025), the video has accumulated over 15.5 billion views.
If you had a toddler around the time of its viral success, you probably had it playing at home or in the car.
The catchy tune features a family of sharks that hunt a school of fish.
It even started a ‘Baby Shark Challenge’ where thousands of families uploaded videos of themselves recreating shark dance moves.
Adults soon joined in, dancing to the catchy tune.
