CAPE TOWN - The Democratic Alliance (DA) said that it can not make any decisions on the matter of JP Smith and Xanthea Limberg's probe by SAPS commercial crimes investigators on the basis of speculation.
This follows a raid by the Hawks at the City of Cape Town's Safety and Security MMC Smith and Energy MMC, Xanthea Limberg's offices on Friday.
SAPS confirmed in a statement the raid was in relation to the tender fraud case in the construction sector that was already before courts.

Smith has dismissed the allegations as a political smear campaign that seeks to remove him from office.
DA leader John Steenhuisen said that in the past, the party acted on accusations based on evidence and removed questionable members from office.
"Once the facts have emerged, once the prima facie evidence is on the table, we will have a more determined way about how we proceed moving forward. At the moment, it remains speculation, but it is the matter which I'm certainly watching closely, and it's a matter which the party will deal with credibly, seriously, intelligently, as we have always done."
