5 Gauteng Health officials found guilty of corruption at Anglo Ashanti Hospital dismissed

JOHANNESBURG - Five officials from Gauteng's Health and Infrastructure Development Departments have been dismissed after a disciplinary inquiry found them guilty of corruption at Anglo Ashanti Hospital.
The inquiry investigated nine officials from the departments for irregularity in awarding contracts for the refurbishment of the hospital in 2022.
The probe conducted by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) uncovered evidence of financial misconduct
The SIU's Kaizer Kganyago says the unit welcomes the outcomes of the disciplinary action.
"The Gauteng government acted on the SIU's recommendations and charged the officials involved which led to five officials being dismissed, three with a final written warning, one acquitted and the one was not charged because they left the department."

Head of Infrastructure Development was dismissed;
Acting Head of Department Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development was dismissed;
Acting Director, Health Infrastructure: Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development was dismissed;
Acting Chief Financial Officer and head of Supply Chain Management: Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development was dismissed;
Acting Deputy Director-General, Health Branch: Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development was dismissed; project manager,
Infrastructure Development: Gauteng Department of Health - final written warning;
Acting Chief Director, Health Infrastructure: Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development - final written warning; project manager contract employment ended during the hearing; Acting Deputy Director-General, Hospital Services: Gauteng Department of Health acquitted.
