JOHANNESBURG - Vaping industries have been warned against the use of inappropriate marketing tactics that target individuals under 18 years old.

The Vapour Products Association of South Africa said it would not tolerate vendors that disregard rules set by the Advertising Regulatory Board (ARB).

CEO of the association, Asanda Gcoyi, stated that these restrictions were there to protect public health and ensure that young people were not exposed to vaping products.

She added that they were concerned with recent advertisements that undermine the ARB code.

"Despite clear guidelines, some vaping vendors continue to disregard these rules by using inappropriate marketing tactics, including outdoor advertisements and social media promotions designed to appeal to young audiences."
