Ramaphosa expresses condolences to Namibia on passing of founding president Sam Nujoma

JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has expressed his condolences to the government and people of Namibia on the passing of founding president Sam Nujoma.
Nujoma died in hospital on Saturday after battling an illness. He was 95.

Ramaphosa has extended his condolences to the founding first lady of the Republic of Namibia Kovambo Nujoma and the broader Nujoma and Kondombolo family.
He said Nujoma's leadership of a free Namibia led the foundation for the solidarity and partnership South Africa shares with Namibia.
"South Africa is grateful for the extended lifetime with which Dr. Sam Nujoma was blessed and South Africa will be forever grateful for the manner in which he dedicated the many decades of his life to serving his nation" said Presidency spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya.
Magwenya added that Nujoma highlighted the significant impact he had on the liberation of both Namibia and South Africa.
"As neighbours and compatriots, South Africa is united in grief with Namibians who have lost the leader of the Namibian revolution who is inseparable from our own history of struggle and liberation."
