JOHANNESBURG - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) has opened a corruption case against the mayor of Umhlathuze local municipality in Richard’s Bay.
The party is accusing the Mayor, Xolani Ngwezi of corruption and racketeering.
The party said it has evidence of him facilitating tender corruption.
The party’s Nkululeko Ngubane laid charges at the Richard’s Bay police station on Wednesday afternoon.
“He is heard clearly instructing service providers as to who must get this money, which money must be channelled to him as an individual and that they must buy him whiskies in Durban and all those stuff.”
Eyewitness News has reached out to Mayor Ngwezi for comment, but he had not yet responded at the time of publishing.
