CAPE TOWN - Minister of Social Development Sisisi Tolashe is on Monday set to conduct oversight visits at Postbank card replacement sites in Cape Town.
The visits aim to ensure a smooth migration of South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) beneficiaries from the current gold cards to the new Postbank black cards.
This comes after the deadline was switched from 28 February to 20 March 2025.
The visits are a continuation of efforts to address the challenges faced by grant beneficiaries during the card replacement process.
“Minister Tolashe will visit sites in Grabouw, Bellville, and Khayelitsha to curb challenges experienced by social grant beneficiaries,” said spokesperson Bathembu Fusthane.
Last week, Tolashe visited a Shoprite store in Golden Acre, while a team of executives visited Shoprite in Paarl.
“In a joint Social Development and Communication and Digital Technologies portfolio committee meeting last week, Minister Tolashe recommitted the department and SASSA to pull all the stops to assist Postbank and ensure that the almost 3 million beneficiaries using the gold card are not inconvenienced.”
