Mugabe's son to remain in custody over Hyde Park shooting

Bellarmine Mugabe, the son of former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe, and his co-accused, Tobias Matondzhe, will remain in custody as investigations into their attempted murder charge continue.
The pair appeared briefly in the Alexandra Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
They are facing several charges related to the shooting of an employee at the Mugabe residence in Hyde Park last week.
A security guard was allegedly shot twice by someone at the residence.
It remained unclear who shot the victim.

Sinen Mguni, the attorney representing the accused, said police still had to establish several facts in the matter.
Mguni said it seemed that they still needed to approach the Department of Home Affairs and other agencies in order to verify a number of things incidental to the status of the accused.
“But of course we can’t really go too deep into that because we don’t know what the nature of those inquiries are. I think we’re just allowing them at this stage to continue with their investigations,” he added.
