For the first time ever, the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is celebrating National Gardens Week, inviting families, nature enthusiasts, and wellness seekers to immerse themselves in South Africa's extraordinary biodiversity – one of the richest in the world.
From Monday, 10 March to Sunday, 16 March 2025, SANBI is welcoming the public to enjoy free access to all national botanical and zoological gardens, offering a perfect escape into nature’s wonders.
This year’s theme, “Grow Your Joy”, is more than just a slogan – it’s a heartfelt invitation to reconnect with the uplifting, healing, and inspiring power of nature.
With SANBI gardens scattered across all nine provinces – from the iconic Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden in Cape Town to the stunning Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden in Johannesburg – there’s a garden experience waiting for everyone.
Each garden offers a unique opportunity to experience South Africa’s natural beauty and biodiversity in a refreshing way.
