Emfuleni residents urged to pay electricity bills directly to Eskom instead of municipality

JOHANNESBURG - Emfuleni residents have been urged to pay their electricity bills directly to Eskom instead of the municipality.  

There's been an agreement that the power utility will now manage power supply to the area.  

Emfuleni has been struggling to pay more than R8 billion owed to Eskom.  

“While several customers have already complied with this requirement, it has come to our attention that some customers are still not making payments directly to Eskom,” said Eskom spokesperson Aamanda Qithi.  

“We urge these customers to make their electricity payments directly to the Eskom First National Bank account, account number: 50851624426.”
