JOHANNESBURG - The Department of Transport wants an over R400 million tender to purchase a new driving licence card machine to be declared unlawful.
This follows the Auditor General (AG)’s investigative findings that the tender awarded to Idemia was irregular.
The AG said the department did not follow the proper procurement process to award the tender.
It also said there was no proper scoring in the bid evaluation process.
The tender was awarded to Idemia 2024, but the AG has clarified that no payments have been made to the service provider.
Minister of Transport Barbara Creecy said she will be lodging an application in the High Court seeking a declaratory order on the tender.
