JOHANNESBURG – The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has established a community outreach programme to simplify the swapping process of its gold card holders to the new Postbank black cards.
The programme aims to assist recipients who can't go to SASSA's designated sites.
The move was announced during a briefing on Thursday, focused on progress made to migrate beneficiaries to the new cards that the department deems safer and easier to use.
SASSA's Rachel Setshedi said thousands of people are set to benefit from the programme.
“Based on the average, we then did a calculation just to ensure that all the remaining beneficiaries would be assisted by the 20th of March, and from the estimate that we have done, given the average work that is done per day, we’re estimating that as from the 20th of March only 100,103 beneficiaries will be assisted."
