JOHANNESBURG - Parliament’s digital team is currently investigating a hacking incident that affected one of their YouTube channels.

Earlier on Saturday, a cryptocurrency post was uploaded on Parliament’s X account linked to their YouTube account.

The post has since been removed.

Numerous posts were uploaded on Parliament’s X account in the early hours of the day.

The post falsely claimed the president’s endorsement of the token with various hashtags, one being Solana and crypto.

It also included the last name of the president with what appeared to be the president's face on the post.

Parliament’s spokesperson, Moloto Mothapo, in a statement released, said they have identified the breach of one of their 25 YouTube channels that is integrated with their social media accounts.

The @ParliamentofRSA account was inactive during the day but is now back online.
