CAPE TOWN - The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Western Cape has welcomed 49 religious leaders who were members of various opposition political parties in the province.
The faith-based leaders, including former African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) provincial executive committee (PEC) members, were unveiled at a press briefing in Cape Town on Wednesday.
Former ACDP Western Cape elections manager, Apostle Elbree Jacobs, who served as the party's provincial elections manager, is one of the religious leaders who has crossed the floor to the DA.
Jacobs is not the only former ACDP provincial leader to crossover to the DA.
The ACDP's former provincial fundraiser, Pastor Sanville Moses, has also joined the blue party.
Moses shared with Eyewitness News his reasons for leaving the party led by Reverend Kenneth Meshoe.
"I saw that the space the DA is creating for us as pastors and leaders in the community is that of fostering and building a bridge to be able to help better support our communities and assist us with what is needed."
The DA said it cherished the partnership with faith-based organisations and community leaders who dedicate their lives to uplifting the people of the province.
