CAPE TOWN - The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) is hoping to recover money lost by the state through alleged corruption and maladministration at various state departments and entities.

The scope of the investigation includes any unlawful or improper conduct by suppliers, service providers, and other involved parties.
"President Cyril Ramaphosa has signed five proclamations — two new and three amendments — authorising the SIU to investigate allegations of corruption and maladministration in the affairs of the National Skills Fund and the National Department of Public Works and Infrastructure,” said SIU spokesperson Kaiser Kganyago.
“The President also amended existing proclamations to expand the scope of investigations into the SABC, Eskom, PetroSA, Transnet, SAA, the Alexkor, and the South African Council for Educators."
