CAPE TOWN - More than 800 people have been displaced after a fire ravaged the New Rest informal settlement in Wellington, Western Cape.
Two people died and about 200 structures were destroyed in Saturday’s inferno.

Gift of the Givers Ali Sablay said the organisation is at the informal settlement, assisting those affected.
“The South African Police Service and forensics unit is on the ground as community members are reporting missing family members. The death toll is currently standing at 2.
“Gift of the Givers teams will provide immediate humanitarian relief aid today and tomorrow. We will extend further humanitarian assistance to the New Rest informal settlement fire victims.”
