Latest Tokai Silvermine fires: Where to donate to fire fighters
Barbara Friedman
27 April 2025 | 15:10Firefighters are working round the clock to contain the fires spreading in the Silvermine area of Table Mountain National Park.
UPDATE: Citu of Cape Town Fire and Rescue has temporarily closed donations.
Jermaine Carelse expressed their sincere gratitude to the individuals, businesses, and organisations that have donated food and drinks to the frontline workers. Donations are currently closed, as we have enough provisions to sustain the teams.
Please drop off donations, including water, energy drinks, and energy bars, at the following venues:
- Volunteer Wildlife Services Newlands, 1 Union Avenue, Newlands
- Residents living in the Lakeside and surrounding areas can drop off supplies at the Lakeside Fire Station
- Pick n Pay stores
Fire authorities are urging the public not to congest the roads and restrict access to the firefighters working to contain the blaze.

Disaster Risk Management officials and volunteers have been activated to assist the Fire Services in coordinating relief efforts.
198 households from the Noordhoek Manor have been evacuated, including 48 frail care residents. DRM states that evacuees are staying with friends and family, as well as at the Fish Hoek Civic Centre, where Healthcare Services are attending to them.
Disaster Risk Management is urging residents to check in on their neighbours, especially the elderly or those who may need assistance.
DRM advises the following:
Residents with pre-existing health conditions, elderly individuals and children must take extra precautions during smoky conditions.
It is advised to put a damp cloth over the mouth and nose to limit smoke inhalation.
Monitor for symptoms of smoke exposure, including coughing, throat irritation, shortness of breath, and chest pain. If symptoms develop, seek medical attention as necessary.
