He was arrested on the same day and has since appeared at the Protea Glen Magistrates Court, where he abandoned bail and remains in custody.
The victim’s guardian, Lungile Dlamini, is demanding CCTV footage from Pick n Pay to confirm the accounts of the eyewitnesses.
In a written response, Pick 'n Pay told EWN that they are cooperating with the police in the investigation.
They have also offered counselling to their staff members who witnessed the incident.
However, Dlamini said this is not enough and wants answers on how the suspect entered the store with a weapon.
“Pick n Pay is acting very dodgy, that’s what I have picked up from their response to all this, and I think it is because they are taking advantage of the fact that Sinenhlanhla is an orphan but they don’t consider that we could get a lawyer to fight for justice.”
Pick n Pay told EWN that they are focused on helping the bereaved family.
