JOHANNESBURG - Lobby group AfriForum has taken on the legal representation of the caretaker of the Eastern Cape school where a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped and which she has now left.
The group has been fighting the plight of the school principal, Jaco Pieterse, who was suspected and accused by members of the public of the child's rape.
The case was brought to the fore when her mother went on a podcast speaking about the ordeal in March.
There have since been no arrests and Police Minister Senzo Mchunu issued an apology to Pieterse.
AfriForum's Barry Bateman: "AfriForum's private prosecution unit has sent another letter to national police commissioner, General Fannie Masemola, urging him to set the record straight on this case and put an end to the speculation surrounding the school and the false allegations made against its staff."
