JOHANNESBURG - The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) is calling on the employers of Venus Security International Workers to fully comply with the payment conditions of its employees.
The union threatened to take to the streets on Monday, over the non-payment of 200 security workers for two months.
The employees are stationed at the Braamfischer Airport, Upington International Airport as well as the Kathu and Kimberley airports.
However, following a meeting with Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) and the security company's HR manager over the weekend, salaries for March and April were paid on Tuesday, but NUMSA said they weren't paid in full.
NUMSA national spokesperson, Phakamile Hlubi-Majola said: "NUMSA will continue to hold the company's owners accountable to ensure that every cent owed to workers is fully paid. We demand that they must comply and this includes paying for the provident fund and the medical insurance. We call on all employees of Venus Security International to join NUMSA, as we remain committed to fighting for their rights."
