JOHANNESBURG –  Amajita have made history by reaching the Africa Cup of Nations U20 final for the first time in 28 years after beating Nigeria 1-0  at the Suez Canal Stadium in Egypt on Thursday night.

A lone strike from Tylon Smith in the 66th minute, assisted by Neo Rapoo, sealed the victory for the South African U20 men’s national team.

South Africa booked a spot in the final against Morocco on Sunday, 18 May at the 30th June Stadium in Cairo.

Nigeria will play for third place against hosts Egypt on the same day.

Amajita haven’t been to the U20 final since 1997 in Morocco, where they lost 1-0 to the hosts.

Morocco have won four of their five games at the AFCON, finishing atop of Group B after victories over Kenya (3-2) and Tunisia (3-1) and a goalless draw with Nigeria.
