JOHANNESBURG - Two of the four men arrested in connection with the disappearance and murder of Aserie Ndlovu and Zodwa Mdhluli have abandoned their bid for bail.

They face charges of kidnapping and appeared briefly at the KwaMhlanga Magistrates Court on Monday.

They now also face murder charges after police found evidence that the missing couple was allegedly shot and killed in their home in KwaMhlanga on the day of their disappearance.

Earlier this month, police discovered skeletal remains in Rust de Winter, in Limpopo, with gunshot wounds, believed to belong to the missing couple.

All four accused covered their heads and faces while staring at the ground as they entered the dock.

This is the first time they’ve covered their faces when appearing in court.

During proceedings, Sello Uoane and Thato Madisha decided to withdraw their application for bail.

Uoane is a parolee who has two previous convictions of robbery with aggravated circumstances and attempted murder.

The bail applications of the other two accused, Samuel Mogongwe and Lucky Sikhosana, will be heard next week.

All the accused will remain behind bars.

While murder charges have been added to the charge sheet, DNA testing is still underway to determine if the remains found belong to the couple.
