JOHANNESBURG - There is good news for unemployed Gauteng residents, as the provincial government’s mass recruitment campaign is making a return.

Premier Panyaza Lesufi announced at a media briefing on Thursday that the second instalment of the Nasi Ispani programme will be launched in June.

The initial round primarily enlisted young people into the province’s crime prevention and traffic management programme.

Lesufi said that this time, the emphasis would be more on skills development.

"This is another round of Nasi Ispani, it’s skills training. To be welders, to know how to install tiles and to be plumbers. We have got 544,000 people that are unemployed in Gauteng that want to be trained, either to be welders, plumbers and electricians."
