JOHANNESBURG - Late South African actor, Presley Chweneyagae, has been hailed as a powerhouse who adopted every role with vigour.

Known for his breakout role in the Oscar-winning film Tsotsi, Chweneyagae was a celebrated figure both on and off the stage.

Before his passing, he starred in a local telenovela, The River, as a much-loved character, Cobreezy.

His sudden death has stunned fans and industry colleagues alike, with some remembering him as a vibrant, passionate creative with undeniable talent.

Forty-year-old Presley Chweneyagae died at his home in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

His passing has sent shockwaves in the creative industry, with fellow actors describing it as a devastating blow, a loss that feels personal to everyone who ever shared a stage or screen with him.

Fellow actor, Tshepo Maskeo said: "If bubbly was a person, then Presley would be it. He was forever performing, he was forever on stage, whether we’re playing, whether we’re sipping on something, whether we're travelling, performance was just his thing. He would explore characters nonstop, all the time, and impersonate people. He was one of the best impersonators I’ve ever known. I just can’t believe it."

Fans and colleagues have taken to social media to pay tribute to a life lived briefly but lived well.
