Online applications for grades 1 and 8 in Gauteng open in July
The province’s Education MEC, Matome Chiloane on Thursday morning announced that parents and guardians have from 24 July to 29 August to make applications for the 2026 academic year.

JOHANNESBURG - Online applications for grades 1 and 8 in the Gauteng province open on Thursday, 24 July.
The province's Education MEC, Matome Chiloane, announced that parents and guardians have until 29 August to make applications for the 2026 academic year.
He said there are about 400,000 spaces available in schools across the province and has urged parents to apply early for a better chance of admission.
He said parents will need to submit all supporting documents in order to complete the applications.
"For South African parents, we need your ID and passport, child’s birth certificate or passport and for foreign nationals, refugee permit, asylum seeker permit, permanent resident permit."
