Mpumalanga shooting: Police probe 2 counts of murder, 1 count of attempted murder

JOHANNESBURG - Police are investigating two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder following a shooting incident at a liquor outlet in Barberton, in Mpumalanga.
Preliminary investigations reveal that a group of armed suspects stormed the outlet on Sunday and opened fire.
Two people were killed as a result of the shooting, and they were declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
Meanwhile, the third victim is still receiving treatment in hospital.
Police spokesperson Donald Mdhuli says the motive behind the shooting remains unknown at this stage.
“A team consisting of experts from the investigation field that has been established and the acting provincial commissioner of the SAPS [South African Police Service] in Mpumalanga, Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi, vowed that the members of this team will work tirelessly to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to book.”
