CAPE TOWN- The case against a Ugandan man and woman arrested for trafficking in persons in Goodwood has been postponed to Monday for a bail application.
Josephine Namitala and Rashid Kalule, both in their thirties, were arrested on Friday and made their first court appearance on Monday.
The Hawks received information about a possible trafficked victim being held against her will at a guest house in Goodwood and forced to work as a sex worker.
During a search of the premises, four women were found in the guest house, who admitted to being sex workers.
Hawks spokesperson Siyabulela Vukubi said that five other adults were found, along with three small children.
"Two of the persons were identified as the managers of the guesthouse. Investigations revealed that one of the sex workers was a victim of trafficking. The two managers of the guesthouse were immediately arrested. The victim was taken to a medical facility for medical examination."
