African National Congress (ANC) NEC member and former Police Minister Bheki Cele is set to make a political comeback in his home region of eThekwini, as the ANC beefs up its KZN structures ahead of the local government elections.
Last week, the party announced changes to its provincial task team appointed last year, creating significant changes in its structures across KZN.
On Wednesday, new additional members were appointed to the PTT, cutting the number of the previous structure in half.

The ANC said following internal assessments, it had no option but to make changes within provincial and regional task teams in the province. Its secretariat is in the province for the next two days to implement the recent changes.
ANC Deputy Secretary-General Nomvula Mokonyane explained.
“We’ve reinforced the capacity here in KwaZulu-Natal with NEC members who are residents and NEC members who are also public representatives, because part of what we want to focus on is supporting our organisational work with fixing local government.”
The party will announce new regional task teams for all eleven regions in KZN.
