JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Finance MEC Lebogang Maile will present a revised provincial budget on Tuesday morning, making changes to the one he delivered in March.
The adjustments come in response to the national budget recently tabled by the finance minister.
The province said important amendments were needed to bring its budget in line with the national allocations.
In his initial budget, Maile unveiled a R171 billion budget for the upcoming financial year.
The provincial departments of education and health received the largest allocations, with R69 billion and R66 billion respectively.
These figures are expected to be adjusted during Tuesday’s budget speech to reflect the grant allocations received from the national government.
There has been concern in the province over budget cuts in critical departments, as well as underspending by some provincial entities.
Maile is expected to use Tuesday’s revised budget presentation to detail how the Gauteng government plans to utilise available resources to support key priorities.
