JOHANNESBURG - Murdered 14-year-old Lukhona Fose will be remembered by family and friends at a memorial service in Johannesburg’s West Rand on Thursday.
Fose's body was found mutilated in a veld not far from her home in Roodepoort’s Durban Deep at the weekend, a day after she was reported missing by her family.
The young girl was found naked from the waist down, with cuts on her upper and lower body.
Her death has sent shockwaves across the province, with the community of Durban Deep calling for justice to be served.
Fose's family said it was fuming with anger, saying nothing could have prepared them for this loss.
Fose, who grew up in Durban Deep, was living with her grandmother and other family members in a humble home in the same area where her mutilated body was discovered.
While no arrests have been made to date, police are investigating a case including hate crime and muti-related crime.
Fose’s family, friends, teachers and fellow learners, including the Durban Deep community, will remember her on Thursday even though they are struggling with unanswered questions.
Police continue investigating her gruesome death.
