JOHANNESBURG - Deputy president Paul Mashatile has launched a new initiative called the Clean Cities and Towns Campaign, aimed at accelerating service delivery.

The campaign was officially launched on Friday in Soweto, where Mashatile supervised teams working to clean up the Kliptown community.

The Clean Cities and Towns Campaign is expected to expand to other provinces in the coming weeks.

Mashatile expressed confidence that the programme will make a meaningful impact in improving cleanliness across Johannesburg.

"The approach we are taking is that a government must not alone clean for people, but it must also clean with the people. We must work with them and teach them about cleanliness. We are going to come back here to check progress," said Mashatile.
