JOHANNESBURG - North West University has hailed Comrades Marathon winner Tete Dijana following his third win in Sunday's race.

A security guard at the institution, Dijana bagged his third win following back-to-back victories in 2022 and 2023.

Dijana finished the downrun in 5 hours, 25 minutes and 27 seconds from Pietermaritzburg to the people’s park in Durban.

At the finish line, Dijana raised both his arms as a symbol of triumph smiling from ear to ear while the cheers of supporters grew louder.

North West University spokesperson Bertie Jacobs said this was a well-deserved win for the dedicated athlete.

"It shows his commitment, his pride and dedication. We are proud to call him a part of our NWU family and we are proud of his success. Congratulations Tete. You are making us and South Africa proud."
