CAPE TOWN - Nature lovers are in for a treat soon as SANParks plans to reopen several trails on 1 July.
The trails were closed after a fire burned around 2,800 hectares of land in Cape Town in late April.

Although trails in Silvermine East will reopen, picnic sites and boardwalks around the dam near Silvermine West will remain closed until repairs to boardwalks and ablution blocks have concluded.
The organisation chose to close Silvermine and Tokai because of the regrowth of fynbos plants, which need time to grow without potential damage being done to the plants.
SANParks spokesperson, JP Louw, said trails in Tokai, including the Kalk Bay, St James and Muizenberg mountains, will reopen next month.
"Repair efforts will proceed as speedily as possible but may be affected by winter weather. Although some trails may appear unaffected by the fire, it is not feasible to reopen certain trails while others remain unsafe. Allowing access to specific trails could lead to difficulty controlling which paths people use."
