Weather Service forecasts snow for high-lying areas of EC and KZN
Forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela has cautioned the province's residents to exercise extreme caution following the alerts of inclement weather as a result of the expected snowfall.

JOHANNESBURG - The South African Weather Service has issued an orange alert level 6 for disruptive snowfall expected over the high-lying areas of the Eastern Cape.
Forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela has cautioned the province's residents to exercise extreme caution following the alerts of inclement weather due to the expected snowfall.

"Oonce we get to the coastal areas, into the adjacent interior of the Eastern Cape, we are expecting disruptive rain that might result in localised flooding into the central interior in the Eastern Cape, you can expect some localised flooding due to some disruptive rain."
He says snowfall is also expected in the southern parts of KwaZulu-Natal, including in Kokstad and the Drakensberg Mountains that lead to Lesotho.
The national forecaster says this could lead to disruption on the roads including on the N3 and Van Reenen's Pass.
"For the central interior, temperatures are expected to drop with the scattered chance of showers and rain, especially over the Free State into the southern parts of the North West. If you'll be in Gauteng, you can expect cold temperatures with a 30 percent chance of rain and showers."
