CAPE TOWN - The anti-gang unit is investigating a case of murder and three attempted murders after alleged underworld figure Andre Naude was shot dead in Parow.

Police said Naude was shot several times in Voortrekker Road on Thursday afternoon, before succumbing to his wounds.

Another man is being treated in hospital after also being shot.

Naude was on trial for the murder of "steroid king" Brian Wainstein, along with alleged underworld figures Jerome "Donkie" Booysen, and Mark Lifman, who was shot dead in George in November.

Forensic pathologists and members of the anti-gang unit were seen combing the scene while Naude's body lay on the side of Voortrekker Road in Parow.

Police spokesperson Frederick van Wyk said a charcoal grey BMW pulled up next to Naude and his friends while they were standing in the road.

"The occupants of the vehicle randomly fired several shots at them. As a consequence of the shooting incident, a 55-year-old man was killed and a 51-year-old wounded."

Van Wyk said the wounded victim is under police guard while being treated in hospital.
