Supporters gather at Nelson Mandela Square to celebrate the World Test Cricket champions

JOHANNESBURG - Hundreds of supporters gathered at the Nelson Mandela Square, in Sandton, to celebrate the World Test Cricket champions.
The Proteas touched down at the OR Tambo International Airport on Wednesday, following a historic win against defending champions Australia in London.
It's the first time in 27 years that the senior men's team has won a major International Cricket Council (ICC) trophy.

Scores of supporters queued up at the Nelson Mandela Square, with hopes of getting a signature from one of the Proteas.
Adults and children were clad in their gold and green supporters' regalia, waving their flags high and cheering on the world champions.
Supporter Nokwazi Hlubi described the moment as remarkable: “It means the world to us as a country, and it means the world to them as a team to show that they can, indeed, do it and so for all of those who think South Africa is what, racist and we have problems, we've got issues, look around all colours are represented. We are proudly South African.”
Meanwhile, fans are hoping that the world champs will be making more stops across the country.
