CAPE TOWN - A 36-year-old man convicted of the murder of two police officers has received two life sentences.
 
Mxoleleni Sikhahla was sentenced on Thursday.
 
At the time of the killing, the officials were conducting patrol duties in Kraaifontein.
 
According to the Hawks, Sergeant Mnakwazo Mdoko and Constable Mninawa Breakfast were ambushed by the suspect in Bloebkombos in February 2021.
 
They were shot dead while sitting in their patrol vehicle and had their firearms stolen.
 
"Mxoleleni Sikhahla was yesterday sentenced to two life sentences for killing two police officials, plus 47 years direct imprisonment for other related offences like robbery, illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

"He was found guilty on 13 June 2025, on nine of ten counts he was charged with by the Western Cape Division of the High Court of South Africa, Cape Town," said Hawks spokesperson Zinzi Hani.
