Man accused of Umlazi mass shooting set to apply for bail at end of June

DURBAN - The man accused of the Umlazi mass murder, where eight people were shot and killed, is set to apply for bail next week.
Sanele Dlamini made his first court appearance on Monday.
Police have linked the 28-year-old to the May shooting, which left eight people dead at an informal settlement at U-section, with several others injured.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson, Natasha Ramkisson-Kara, said: "The accused appeared today (Monday) in the Umlazi Magistrates Court. The case has been remanded to the 30th of June 2025 for a formal bail application. He is charged with 8 counts of murder and 4 counts of attempted murder."
