JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng residents are being urged to prepare for cold temperatures from Friday.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a warning of another cold front that has already landed in other parts of the country.
Veld fires due to strong winds are also anticipated.
Forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela assured people in Gauteng that no wet conditions had been forecasted.
"It's just a drop in temperatures. We don't have rainfall that's expected with the system. Cold temperatures are expected in Gauteng, clouding from Friday, but into Saturday and Sunday, you can start seeing a pickup and development into back-to-winter conditions."
Meanwhile, the head of the National Weather Service Disaster Risk Department, Rudzani Malala, urged communities affected by the cold front to stay updated on the conditions.
"We also call on communities to play their part. They should follow a daily routine that includes staying abreast of developments on the weather front."
