The state of the GNU is once again looking shaky with tension between the ANC and DA over the firing of Andrew Whitfield as Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition.
This is not the first time the coalition partners have butt heads in their year-long partnership.
However, the UDM leader and Deputy Minister of Defence, Bantu Holomisa says the GNU is something the people of South Africa support, and it is better than the alternative.
He says South Africa should not be governed by a single dominant party.
“One party dominance has proved to be unsuitable for South Africa.”
- Bantu Holomisa, Deputy Minister of Defence
“We are here to serve, and we are happy that we are contributing in our small way.”
- Bantu Holomisa, Deputy Minister of Defence
He adds that the conflict between the ANC and DA is just political posturing and is not something he concerns himself with.

“The noise emanating from the DA and ANC, I do not even contemplate having sleepless nights over that. I am not interested.”
- Bantu Holomisa, Deputy Minister of Defence
He believes the GNU is here to stay, and if any party wants to walk away, there are other parties that will step into their place.
