JOHANNESBURG - African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) President Collen Malatji said that the late former deputy president David Mabuza will be remembered for his role in nurturing the political careers of many young people within the party.

Malatji formed part of an ANC delegation that visited Mabuza’s family home in Barberton, Mpumalanga, on Sunday afternoon.

Mabuza succumbed to a short illness at a hospital in Sandton.

Members of the ANCYL gathered outside Mabuza’s home to pay tribute to the party’s former deputy president.

Some held placards bearing Mabuza’s image while offering comfort to his family during their time of grief.

Malatji said that Mabuza has left an indelible mark.

“He is a man who has released so much education to the youth of the country. We are here as the youth league to say a spear has fallen, but the next generation will take it forward.”

Other ANC members, including International Relations Minister Ronald Lamola, also credited Mabuza as having a significant impact on their political careers.
