JOHANNESBURG - As the country reels from the death of late deputy president, David Mabuza mourners are expected to continue to pay their respects at his home in Barberton.

Close friends and political colleagues have been reflecting on his life and legacy at his residence in Mpumalanga.

Mabuza passed away on Thursday at a hospital in Sandton after a short illness.

He was 64.

 After leaving government, Mabuza spent most of his days at his farm along the R38 highway in Barberton.

Mourners gather in the yard, joined by ANC supporters who came to honour a man who once headed the party’s provincial structure.

Meanwhile, the family now has to confront the painful reality of his passing as they begin the difficult task of arranging his funeral.

Family spokesperson Desmond Moela said that  Mabuza’s friends from around the world will visit the family today to pay their respects.

"The former deputy president had made relations with other people living and Russia and other countries. So some of his friends will be coming to pay their last respects. These are friends he made in Russia and many other countries."

Mabuza will be laid to rest next week Saturday.
