SA Policing Union on Ramaphosa’s response to Mkhwanazi’s claims: ‘We’ve been vindicated’

President Ramaphosa has placed Police Minister Senzo Mchunu on a leave of absence following allegations by KZN Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
Mkhwanazi claimed Mchunu was involved in corruption and political interference within the police service.
Professor Firoz Cachalia has been appointed as Acting Minister of Police.
Thobakgale says SAPU welcomes the decision by the President to establish a commission of inquiry into the allegations and SAPS as a whole.
He says the union had been calling for one to respond to the allegations.

He adds that they support the decision to place Mchunu on special leave as it will allow the commission of inquiry to function efficiently.
