CAPE TOWN - Kraaifontein police are monitoring the situation in Wallacedene after a shack fire claimed the life of a little girl.
The blaze flared up just after 10 on Monday morning on Maroela Road in the area.
Fire teams from Kraaifontein, Bellville, Brackenfell and Milnerton responded to the fire.
City of Cape Town’s fire chief, Jermaine Carelse, said: "By 12:20, firefighters managed to extinguish the fire that destroyed approximately 20 informal structures and left 60 to 80 persons displaced."
