CAPE TOWN - Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis has been hauled before the Bishop Lavis Magistrates Court for alleged harassment and abuse of power.
This after a Bothasig resident made a court application for a protection order against the mayor following a dispute.
It's understood that Hill-Lewis accused the applicant of operating an illegal car repair business in the area.
The applicant claims that the mayor used his political influence and access to law enforcement to pursue a personal vendetta.
The mayor's spokesperson, Lyndon Khan: "This is a further opportunity to show how the court's time is being wasted by this meritless request for a protection order as a means to evade accountability."
The matter has been postponed to 25 September for further investigation and to allow for the mayor to be present.
