JOHANNESBURG - Wage negotiations between unions and management at FlySafair are set to resume on Thursday after hitting a deadlock.

The airline proposed a 5.7% salary increase, with pilots demanding 10.5% for the next financial year and then 4.5% and 4% for the two years after.

Trade union Solidarity said its members have also complained about their working conditions.

The union has threatened that its members will embark on a strike if its demands are not met.

The Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) is guiding Thursday's negotiations.

Solidarity's spokesperson, Helgard Cronje, said a number of aspects have contributed to the current negotiation deadlock.
